Another Sunday

Another Sunday. We woke up to snow this morning, but it was gone by the time church started. We went to Gage and Emily's ward first because it's their last Sunday there and they had to speak. Emily woke up with a splitting migraine, so Gage gave her talk first. (She had it all written out for weeks.) Then there was a musical number, and Gage got up and gave his talk! He did a really good job.

Gage and Emily bought a home and are moving in this week. It was a short sale, but it wasn't a short process. I think they put the offer on the home four or five months ago. Anyway, it finally closed last week, and they are very excited to be moving to their own home. We'll post more pictures later.

Here's Alex and Quinn going to our own Sacrament Meeting. I was so proud of them. Not one complaint for having to go to two churches today.
Sunday after church we all get together for dinner. Today we had baked salmon, grilled chicken, rice, spinach salad, and homemade bread. Usually I cook, but today Michael cooked. It was DELICIOUS! It was a celebration of Zack's birthday, and since he LOVES salmon, we splurged.

Marissa and Zack also bought a home and have been in for about a month. It was a bank-owned home. We feel so fortunate that our children were able to buy homes at such young ages. Both Marissa and Gage nearly "stole" their homes, but it's hard to think about all those unfortunate souls that are losing their homes. We'll post pictures of their home later also.

Yes, Eric, our family is just as goofy as usual. These pictures are proof.

Quinn and Alex had their boys' choir concert last week. Alex LOVES to sing but can't carry a tune in a bucket. Oh, well. We don't tell him this, yet anyway.

Update on Eric: He has about three months left in Guam and then will be transferred to Malmstrom Air Force Base in Montana. Yea! At least he'll be back in the U.S., and even on the western half. So close, but yet so far. We miss you, Eric.

  1. So, did you have any problems getting your boys to dress in church clothes? That was a HUGE issue for us with our 13 yr old when we were hosting. I ended up deciding that it wasn't worth the battle, let him wear jeans and figured at least we went to church (but being the incredibly stubborn person I am, I took three hours to decide this). Given that I currently have no boys OR teenagers, I'm not quite sure how to handle this, if the situation remains the same when we get them... My first reaction is that I am the mom, but I also know that I need to pick my battles. Any advice?

  2. Woot! An update! What a great family you have. Congrats to both your kids on their new homes!
I noticed that you weren't doing anything to terribly crazy in all those photo's. Hum...did you just choose not to post those?
We've missed you at lunch. Hope you can come next month!

  3. Thanks for your comment. I thought that maybe if I just let him wear jeans at some point he'd start to notice that he was the only one, but who knows. He's as stubborn as I am:) No date yet and just a lot of rambling on the blog. We are waiting for the USCIS paperwork. Fingerprinting for them Wednesday. Everything else is ready to go. Maybe in May we will travel? I had hoped to be there by the beginning of May for our little one's birthday. Oh well.

  4. Ummmm... Somehow I managed to not have read the very beginning of your blog until tonight. I have no idea how that happened. I remember reading the part about Rita and you saying to feel sorry for her, not you and thinking that you had said that so well (we were kind of going through that with our older boy at that time), but not any of the other stuff before that. I can't imagine all of that. Like I said, I have no idea how I missed that, as I was sure to blog stalk any Ukraine adoption I could get my hands on... Anyhow, you are one tough cookie! Wow.
